A jolt to the head isn't enough to stop Kelley Cain.
After leaving the UCLA game with a concussion, she missed UT's win over George Washington last Monday and hadn't practiced the last three days.
"In that game (UCLA), I just got elbowed in the back of the head, and all I know is I'm good now," Cain said Sunday night. "I just try not to think about it, but I'm good."
But once Pat Summitt got word Sunday from associate athletics director for sports medicine Jenny Moshak that Cain could play, she wound up getting pretty much the same old Cain. And that's decidedly a good thing.
Before that UCLA game, Cain had put together some really solid play in the post. In her return to the court Sunday night in a romp over then-No. 17 Texas, she was solid again.
In fact, it's hard to ask for a more efficient performance than the one Cain turned in Sunday. In just 17 minutes of play off the bench, Cain was 6-of-6 from the floor, grabbed six rebounds and blocked four shots.
The Longhorns didn't have an answer inside, not that anyone has so far this season.
"When Kelley is guarding them and they're trying to make a layup, normally they either just throw it into Kelley's hands or they can try," forward Glory Johnson said. "It's hard for me when I'm practicing against Kelley to get it up because of her arm span. All of us being tall definitely works to our advantage."
