ON TOUR: Smith Wins First Match at a Challenger

John-Patrick Smith collected his first Challenger Tour-level victory Monday at the USTA Challenger of Oklahoma in Tulsa, Okla.

Smith recovered from an up-and-down second set to defeat American Adam El Mihdawy 6-1, 6-7 (3), 6-4 to advance to the round of 16. After a day off, he plays seventh-seeded Tim Smyczek on Wednesday.

Williams Gets Three-Set Victory: Rhyne Williams beat eighth-seeded American Dennis Zivkovic 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 in the opening round of the Tevlin Family Futures in Toronto, Canada.

Williams also teamed up with Tennys Sandgren for a hard-fought doubles victory, beating Americans Mark Oljaca and Phillip Simmonds 3-6, 6-1, [10-5]. Williams and Sandgren won a Futures title together last year in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Sandgren, the seventh seed in the draw, plays Ohio State qualifier Peter Kobelt in the first round Tuesday.

Hubble Advances to Main Draw: Adam Hubble played his way into the main draw of the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center USTA Pro Circuit Event in Claremont, Calif.

Coming off a long three-set win on Sunday, Hubble defeated Maxime Tabatruong of France 6-4, 6-3 in the fourth round of qualifying. 

Hubble, who has been ranked as high as No. 146 in doubles, will play doubles with American Dennis Lajola.
