Vols In NFL Update (9/12-13)

With the first weekend of regular-season NFL action coming to a close, here is a look at former Vols in the pros from Sunday and Monday's action.

- The big news of the weekend in terms of former Vols is another injury story. Eric Berry suffered a torn ACL in a 41-7 loss to the Bills. Read about it here: Chiefs prepare for life without Berry, who has torn ACL and watch video of if: Chiefs lose Berry. With Kansas City, punter Dustin Colquitt punted eight times for a 36.6 average. David Martin had no stats for the Bills.

- The Sunday night thriller saw the Jets comeback to beat the Cowboys, 27-24. With his new contract in place Jason Witten had six catches for 110 yards for Dallas. Check out his 64-yard reception: WATCH HIGHLIGHT.

- In a game that could have pitted two of the Vols most prominent products, the Texans handled the Colts, 34-7. Both the Colts' Peyton Manning (surgery) and Houston's Arian Foster (hamstring) were sidelined. Foster's status for next week is stil unknown. The only active alum in the game, Jason Allen had two tackles for Houston.

- In the Ravens' 35-7 win over the Steelers, Morgan Cox snapped 10 times on Ravens kicks and punts. With the Steelers, both linemen Chris Scott and Ramon Foster were in active.

- The Bengals downed the Browns, 27-17 in the battle of Ohio. Gibril Wilson of Cincinnati had a tackle. With Cleveland, Montario Hardesty had five rushes for 18 yards. Rookie lineman Jarrod Shaw is on the practice squad for the Browns. 

- The Lions beat the Buccaneers 27-20. With Detroit lineman Jacques McClendon was inactive after joining the Lions last week. Luke Stocker made his NFL and had one pass thrown his way that was incomplete. 

- The Cardinals rallied to beat Cam Newton and the Panthers, 28-21. Dan Williams had four tackles for Arizona.  Omar Gaither did not have a stop for Carolina. 

- The Redskins beat the Giants, 28-14 as Deon Grant had four tackles for New York. Donte' Stallworth was inactive for Washington.

- On Monday night, the Patriots downed the Dolphins, 38-24. Jerod Mayo had five tackles for New England. In their Pats' debuts Albert Haynesworth had two stops and Shaun Ellis made a tackle. For Miami, Kevin Burnett had three tackles in his debut with the Phins. Tony McDaniel suffered a hand injury in the first half and was out for the remainder of the game. 

- The last game of the weekend saw the Raiders stop the Broncos, 23-20. With Oakland John Henderson had a tackle. Rookie Denarius Moore played but had not stats for the Raiders in his pro debut. With Denver, Robert Ayers had two stops and punter Britton Colquitt kicked four times for a 31.3 average including a 65-yard long.
