Tennessee softball's Lauren Gibson and Kelly Grieve helped Team USA to an 8-0 (6 inn.) victory over Argentina to finish off the Pan Am Games preliminary round with a perfect 7-0 record. The Americans secured the No. 1 seed in the playoff round and will face-off against No. 2 seed Cuba on Sat., Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. ET.
Lauren Gibson doubled, was hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored a run as part of a 1-for-3 effort while starting at second base and hitting third in the line-up. Kelly Grieve led-off and was 0-for-3 as the starting center fielder.
Gibson - Seven games/six starts, .500 avg. (6-for-12), four runs, double, two triples, three RBIs, two walks, three hit by pitch, 2-for-2 stolen bases
Grieve - Six games/four starts, .182 avg. (2-for-11), three runs, two RBIs, two walks
