ON TOUR: Williams into Final at Palm Coast (Fla.) Futures

Former Vol Rhyne Wiliams reached his fifth career professional tennis final Saturday thanks to another straight-set victory at the Palm Coast (Fla.) Futures.

Williams knocked off sixth-seeded Gabriel Moraru 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals to reach the title match of the $10,000 level tournament. He faces Australian prospect Jason Kubler in Sunday's final.

Williams has won his first four matches in straight sets in the tournament. Last week, he reached the semifinals of the Weston (Fla.) Futures. The Knoxville native has reached five finals and won two Futures titles in his career: in Pittsburgh in 2007 and 2011 in Innisbrook, Fla.

On Monday, he will crack the top 500 ATP singles ranking for the first time in his career.

And in Dallas: Tennys Sandgren beat wildcard Charles Boyce 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the second round of qualifying at the Dallas Challenger, a $100,000 event. He faces the sixth seed in qualifying, Kevin Kim, on Sunday.
