Rhyne Williams and Tennys Sandgren both won again Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Brownsville (Texas) Futures, a $15,000 event.
Williams had no trouble in his match, conceding only one game while away Takanyi Garanganga 6-0, 6-1. He faces American Gregory Ouellette in the quarterfinals Friday.
Sandgren was also able to pick up a straight-set win, beating former Texas Longhorn ace Dimitar Kutrovsky 7-6 (4), 6-4. He plays fourth-seeded Daniel Cox of the U.S. next.
As a team, Williams and Sandgren will play for their third professional title as a pairing. They beat Vahid Mirzadeh and former Virginia Cavalier Michael Shabaz 6-1, 7-6 (0). The Vol pair, seeded third, play the second-seeded team of Ruben Gonzales and Chris Kwon.
