Former Vol Tennys Sandgren will play for his third professional singles title Monday morning at the Calabasas Futures in California.
Sandgren knocked off top-seeded Andre Begemann of Germany 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 in the semifinal Sunday. Begemann registered for the tournament ranked No. 266, giving Sandgren his first career top-300 victory.
Sandgren faces another collegiate player in the title match: former UCLA Bruin Dan Kosakowski, the fifth seeded. Kosakowski played one season at UCLA before starting his professional career last summer.
The former Vol's first two titles came in back-to-back weeks in July and August when he won the Godfrey Futures and the Decatur Futures in Illinois. This would be his first title at the $15,000 level.
