Wingardh has strong showing at first European PGA Event

In his first event on the European PGA Tour, former Vol golfer Robin Wingardh placed 45th at the Nordea Masters in Bro, Sweden, earning 8,100.00 euros for his finish Saturday.

Wingardh, who played for the Orange and White from 2007 to 2011, opened the event with a four-under 68, finding himself in a tie for fourth place after the first round. He wrapped up the tournament with a 68-73-71-73=285 (-3) tally to finish 45th.

Lee Westwood won the event at 19 under.

A native of Morarp, Sweden, Wingardh has competed in 11 Challenge Tour events with a top finish of 33rd coming at the Fred Olson Challenge de Espana in October 2011.

The 2010-11 Tennessee team captain earned All-Southeastern Conference laurels three times in his undergraduate career and pulled an All-America nod in his senior campaign.
