Sophomore Mikelis Libietis starts his final tournament of the summer Tuesday at an ITF Futures event in Jurmala, Latvia.
Libietis, who received a wild card into his home country's event, faces third-seeded Michael Schmid of the Czech Republic in the opening round.
Schmid is ranked No. 484 in the world tour rankings. Libietis enters the week unranked but will be back on the international ATP list next week when his two points are added from reaching the quarterfinals in Lithuania.
Libietis is also teaming up with fellow Latvian Oskars Vaskis in doubles. The two are facing Roberto Marcora and Gvidas Sabeckis in the first round. Libietis has won ITF Futures doubles title to his credit already and has reached the finals of three other tournaments.
