Former Vol Wingardh Wins at Bogogno

Former Vol golfer Robin Wingardh won the First Qualifying Stage Section C at Circolo Golf Bogogno in Italy.

Wingardh shot a one-under par final round (71) to win the First Stage at the Italian venue. With a total round score of 15-under par (273), Wingardh was two shots clear of South African Dylan Fritelli after his two-under par final round (70).

Earlier in the week, Wingardh came out determined and focused as a six-under par opening round of 66 handed him the lead after first day of play. He added a second round score of 69 before a five-under par third round of 67 kept him on top in Italy.

The former Tennessee golfer is a native of Morarp, Sweden and graduated in 2011. During his time on Rocky Top, Wingardh racked up numerous awards and honors such as: 2008 Freshman All-SEC, 2nd Team All-SEC (2009, 2010, 2011), 2011 D-1 Ping All-American Honorable Mention, and Team Caption for the 2011 Volunteer squad.
