Lady Vols Claim 17th SEC Regular Season Title

The Lady Vol basketball team claimed its 17th SEC regular season title Thursday night at Thompson-Boling Arena with an 82-72 victory over Texas A&M. It is the first SEC regular season crown under head coach Holly Warlick. Senior Kamiko Williams led the squad with a career-high 18 points, while her fellow senior Taber Spani added eight as the duo won their third SEC regular season championship. The Lady Vols were picked to finish fourth by the media in the SEC preseason poll, and were tabbed to place fifth in the SEC coaches preseason poll.

Warlick has been a part of 16 of Tennessee's 17 regular season league championships. As a senior, she led UT to its first regular season title in school history in 1980. She has been involved with every championship since with the exception of 1985.
