Four Stripes Removed On Sunday For Vols' Newcomers

On Sunday, four newcomers to the Tennessee football program had their black stripes removed from their helmets. The first player to have his stripe removed was freshman cornerback Cameron Sutton, last week. On Sunday, Dylan Wiesman had his stripe removed by 'big brother' Antonio Richardson in the team's morning meeting.

In the evening, three more stripes came off: junior tailback Justus Pickett, freshman wide receiver Marquez North and freshman defensive lineman Corey Vereen. That brings the total to five.

Head coach Butch Jones instituted this new tradition where new members of the program begin their time with a black stripe and have to earn the removal of the stripe from a 'big brother,' who mentors and watches over the newcomer.
