This Day In #Vols History (Sept. 1)

The Vols are 3-2 all-time on Sept. 1, winning the first three games played on the date. 

In 2001, Tennessee struck paid dirt on its offensive play of the game as Casey Clausen hit Donte Stallworth on a 37-yard scoring pass and the Vols never trailed in a 33-9 win over Syracuse before 107,725 at Neyland Stadium. Constantin Ritzman recorded a second-quarter safety as he tackled Orange QB Troy Nunes in the end zone. Travis Stephens ran for 111 yards and a 4-yard TD. Redshirt freshman Corey Larkins, in his first game as a Vol scored two rushing TDs on runs of 38 and 16 yards.
