The Vols won their first-ever game on Oct. 15, 1892 with a 25-0 victory over Maryville College.

The Vols only win on Oct. 15 since 1961 came in 1983, a thrilling 41-34 victory over Alabama. Johnnie Jones' 66-yard rushing TD proved to be the difference. On defense, led by Reggie White, the Vols kept Alabama scoreless for the final 21:36. QB Alan Cockrell threw for 292 yards with scoring strikes of 80, 80 and 57 yards.
