#VFL Arencibia Makes MLB Pitching Debut

On Wednesday evening, #VFL and current Texas Rangers first baseman J.P. Arencibia made his first-ever Major League pitching debut, tossing 1.0 scoreless ninth inning in the club's 10-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Throwing in the 73 mile per hour range, Arencibia used 10 total pitches against his four batters faced, inducing two fly-outs after the Rays' Logan Forsythe hustled to beat an infield throw for the lone hit in the outing. Arencibia's debut now stands as the third occasion this season for Rangers Manager Ron Washington to call a position player to the mound.

When asked about the outing during postgame media availability, Arencibia responded saying he was just doing what he could to help the team.
