Happy Birthday - April 20

Today we're celebrating the birthday of one of Tennessee's basketball legends: Allan Houston!

Houston is UT's all-time leading scorer at 2,801 points in his 128 games over four years on Rocky Top. He trails only Pete Maravich on the SEC's all-time scoring chart. Houston was a two-time All-American and a four-time All-SEC selection, Houston went on to play 12 seasons in the NBA with the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks. In 2011, Tennessee retired his #20 jersey to make him the third UT men's basketball player to have his number retired at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Houston is currently an assistant general manager for the Knicks.

Happy birthday, Allan Houston!

Happy Birthday - April 19

It's April 19 and we've got a big-time Big Orange birthday to celebrate on Rocky Top! Today we're sending happy birthday wishes to basketball legend Candace Parker

One of the greatest collegiate women's basketball players of all time, Parker played three years for the Lady Vols, winning back-to-back national championships in 2007 and 2008. She was twice named the Most Outstanding Player at the NCAA Tournament and she concluded her UT career with a record of 101-10 and averages of 19.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.

Her professional career has also included time with UMMC Ekaterinburg in Russia. She is also a two-time Olympic gold medalist. Her jersey was retired at the University of Tennessee last season.

Happy birthday, Candace!

Happy Birthday - April 18

We've got three birthdays to celebrate on this 18th day of April as we send 'happy birthday' wishes to swimmer Caroline Finkbeiner and Eve Repic of women's tennis, not to mention former Lady Vol golf standout Erica Popson

In total, she racked up nine top-10 finishes over the 2014-15 season. Finkbeiner turns 21 years old today.

A sophomore from Ontario, Canada, Repic recently concluded her second season on Rocky Top with a singles record of 16-11. For her career, she is 38-23 overall. Repic went out with a win, defeating Emily Flickinger of Auburn 6-1, 7-6 during the opening round of the 2015 SEC Women's Tennis Tournament. She was ranked as high as No. 40 this season. Born this day in 1995, Repic turns 20 today.

A four-year standout for Tennessee women's golf from 2009-13, Popson recorded eight top finishes over her career for the Orange and White. She won top medalist honors at the 2011 SEC Championship, firing a three day total of 210 (66-74-70) before going on to another victory at the NCAA West Regional. Happy Birthday - April 17

On April 17 we're sending out happy Big Orange birthday wishes to two men's basketball VFLs: Dane Bradshaw and C.J. Watson!

Bradshaw was a point-forward for the Volunteers from 2004-07, boasting a career assist/turnover ratio of 2.14 while helping guide UT to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances over his final two seasons. He was selected as a member of Tennessee's All-Century team in 2009. In October of 2014 it was announced that Bradshaw had accepted a gig with the SEC Network as a basketball analyst for the 2014-15 season. It's April 13 and we've got a pair of VFL birthdays to celebrate! Today we're wishing a happy birthday to former men's tennis standout Jarryd Chaplin and, from the archives, baseball legend Ben Cantwell

A native of Sydney, Australia, Chaplin wrapped up a four-year career at Tennessee last season. In 1933, Cantwell won 20 games as a starter for the Braves, becoming just the second pitcher out of the SEC to record 20 wins in a season in the major leagues. Cantwell passed away in 1962 at age 60.

A junior transfer from the University of Kentucky, Chewning made her Orange & White debut this season. She picked up a win in her first meet as a member of the UT squad, posting a 260.25 in the 3-meter springboard.

Happy Birthday - April 10

On this 10th day of April we are celebrating a quartet of Tennessee birthdays. Join us in wishing a happy birthday to volleyball's Kelsey Bawcombe, Chelsea Blaase of cross country/track and field, rowing's Morgan Suffridge, and baseball VFL Mike Lincoln

A native of Temecula, California, Bawcombe is coming off a solid freshman season for Tennessee Volleyball in the fall of 2014. Out on the track, Blaase is having the best season of her career. In the fall, she became Tennessee's 10th cross country All-American after finishing 10th at the NCAA Championships. Blaase earned her second All-American award of the year during the indoor track and field season when she placed fourth in the women's 5,000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships. And just last week, Blaase broke her own school record in the 10,000 meter run at the Stanford Invitational, turning in a time of 32:28.39 that ranks second in the nation.

Today we also wish a happy 65th birthday to former Vol and Major Leaguer, Sam Ewing. One of the best to ever play in Tennessee's history, Ewing posted an incredible .464 batting average during his senior season in Knoxville. He drove in 25 runs on 45 hits that season to go along with eight home runs and 33 runs scored. Unsurprisingly, he was a first team All-America selection by both the Sporting News and the ABCA. He finished his career with a .411 batting average before going on to play professionally with the Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays organizations. He was elected to the Tennessee Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998.

It's April 8 and we're sending happy birthday wishes to graduating soccer senior Allie Sirna!

Sirna recently wrapped up a stellar four-year career with Tennessee, starting in all 85 matches in which she appeared during her time on Rocky Top. A standout defender, Sirna helped UT record seven shutouts last season and earned SEC All-Tournament Team honors after logging 290 minutes played during the tournament and helping the Volunteers rally back against Alabama and stifle a potent Florida attack in the quarterfinals.
