Owens Featured in Baltimore Sun

Tennessee freshman Tariq Owens and his new experiences adjusting to the life of SEC basketball  were featured in today's Baltimore Sun. Owens, who hails from Odenton, Md., came to the Vols after spending a year at Mt. Zion Prep in Baltimore.

Senior guard Josh Richardson needs just seven points against USC to reach 1,000 for his career. The Volunteers enter the game coming off a victory at Missouri, the Vols' first victory this season in which they scored 60 or fewer.

It's a busy Tuesday on the Hill!

First, Tennessee men's basketball assistant coach Chris Shumate will join Vince Ferarra on the News Sentinel Sports page on Sports Radio WNML in Knoxville at 10:15. You can listen in Knoxville on 99.1 FM and AM 990 or online right HERE.

Tennessee Football returns to the practice field today as preparation for the Iowa Hawkeyes in the TaxSlayer Bowl continues. Full coverage with comments from Tennessee assistant coaches will be available right here at UTSports.com when practice concludes around 2 p.m. ET. 

Tonight, the Lady Volunteer basketball team returns to action against Wichita State. This marks the first meeting between these schools, but Lady Vol head coach Holly Warlick (as Pat Summitt's assistant) coached both WSU head coach Jody Adams (1989-93) and assistant Bridgette Gordon (1985-89) during their playing careers at Tennessee. The game will be televised by the SEC Network.

Vol Calls Set For Tonight

Vol Calls tonight at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT will feature Coach Butch Jones and Brent Hubbs from Calhoun's On the River in downtown Knoxville. Bob Kesling will join the show from Orlando with an interview with Coach Donnie Tyndall as Tennessee prepares in the Orlando Classic Thanksgiving Day.

Happy Birthday - Nov. 8: Coach Ray Mears

On Nov. 8 we celebrate the birthday of the late Coach Ray Mears, who led the Tennessee men's basketball program for 15 years. Mears registered 278 victories, a .713 winning percentage and three SEC Championships from 1962-77 on Rocky Top. He passed away at the age of 80 on June 11, 2007.

Wednesday's Vol Calls Features, Jones, Tyndall & Pensky

Tonight's Vol Calls show will showcase a trio of Tennessee coaches. Football coach Butch Jones will be on the show with an interview taped earlier in the day on Wednesday. Men's basketball coach Donnie Tyndall will be a live in-person guest at Calhoun's. Soccer coach Brian Pensky will call in live from Orange Beach, Ala., where he guided Tennessee to a thrilling shootout win over #8 Florida earlier in the day on Wednesday. 

The show will also feature interviews with Jalen Hurd, Curt Maggitt and Pig Howard following the overtime win at South Carolina. 

The show starts at 8 p.m., ET/7 p.m. CT statewide on the Vol Network.
