Van Sickle Named Winner

This afternoon, Lady Vol soccer alum Sarah Van Sickle was named an Under Armour "What's Beautiful" contestant winner.

Van Sickle, whose goal was to, "restore and instill hope, self-esteem, and confidence to at least 225 to 250 women of all ages, sizes, and races," did the very thing she set out to do.

Canada Defeats New Zealand 2-0

Saturday's MatchWorld Women's Cup competition between Canada and New Zealand brought lots of excitement to pre-Olympic play in Switzerland. Team Canada, and former Tennessee soccer great Rhian Wilkinson, defeated the Kiwis of New Zealand, and 2012 soccer signee Hannah Wilkinson, 2-0.

CANADIAN NATIONAL TEAM 

Canada will face Brazil on July 17th for their final match of the MWWC 2012. Likewise, New Zealand will look to finish the pre-Olympic tournament strong as they face Columbia, also on the 17th





Lady Vols in Match World Women's Cup

In preparation for the 2012 Olympics in London, national soccer teams from Canada, Brazil, Colombia, and New Zealand are participating in the Match World Women's Cup.

Tennessee soccer fans should take note of these matches as former Volunteer great Rhian Wilkinson of Canada will face 2012 soccer signee Hannah Wilkinson of New Zealand tomorrow in Switzerland.

Saturday's match will mark the 10th international meeting between Canada and New Zealand. The event will take place at 10 a.m. EST and can be seen in Canada on Eurosport World or followed on Twitter at @CanadaSoccerEN and @NZ_Football.

Each team will play matches against two opponents and the squad with the most points will be crowed champion of the Match World Women's Cup. Check utladyvols.com for a recap of the match tomorrow.

Brown Scores Game Winner for Lady Force

Rising junior Caroline Brown is spending her summer playing for the Knoxville Lady Force of the Women's Premier Soccer League. On Saturday, the Hershey, Pa., native scored a game winner during stoppage time to lead the Lady Force to a 2-1 win over the Georgia Revolution.

A three-time All-Central Region and All-SEC selection at forward, former Lady Vol standout Rhian Wilkinson the Baie d'Urfe, Quebec, native helped Tennessee to three NCAA Tournament appearances and a pair of SEC Eastern Division and Tournament titles. As a rookie, she paced the squad's offense in every significant category on her way to a bushel of individual accolades, including the UT Daily Beacon's Female Athlete of the Year, the SEC's Freshman of the Year and second-team Freshman All-America. In 2003, Wilkinson helped the Canadian National Team to the silver medal at the Pan Am Games and a fourth-place finish at the FIFA Women's World Cup before returning to the Big Orange and contributing 19 points on six goals and seven assists in just 13 matches. Wilkinson ranks first on the school's all-time list in points (88), assists (32), match-winning goals (nine), Golden Goals (three) and is tied for second in goals (28).
