Tennessee Update: Soccer Blog (8/25)

Caroline Brown and the UT soccer team pulled off a marathon double-overtime win over William & Mary Friday night at Regal Soccer Stadium. Brown's penalty kick heroics at the end moved Tennessee soccer to 3-0 for the first time in program history. Check out Brendan F. Tennessee Soccer Receiving Votes in NSCAA Preseason Poll


The NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's National Preseason Rankings were released today and Tennessee is receiving votes. The SEC has six team represented in the preseason poll, including No. 21 Florida, No. 24 South Carolina and No. 25 Auburn. UT, LSU and Kentucky are all receiving votes.

Top Drawer Soccer Picks UT 3rd in SEC Eastern Division (8/7)


Top Drawer Soccer released its SEC preseason predictions on Monday with the Tennessee soccer team projected to finish third in the Eastern Division. Although, TDS ranks South Carolina and Florida ahead of UT, it suggests that the Lady Vols have a loaded roster heading into 2012.

Van Sickle Named Winner

This afternoon, Lady Vol soccer alum Sarah Van Sickle was named an Under Armour "What's Beautiful" contestant winner.

Van Sickle, whose goal was to, "restore and instill hope, self-esteem, and confidence to at least 225 to 250 women of all ages, sizes, and races," did the very thing she set out to do.

Canada Defeats New Zealand 2-0

Saturday's MatchWorld Women's Cup competition between Canada and New Zealand brought lots of excitement to pre-Olympic play in Switzerland. Team Canada, and former Tennessee soccer great Rhian Wilkinson, defeated the Kiwis of New Zealand, and 2012 soccer signee Hannah Wilkinson, 2-0.
