Happy Birthday - Sept. 5



Help us in wishing the legendary #VFL Willie Gault of Tennessee Football and track and field. Gault earned All-America honors his senior season and finished his career at UT with 12 school records in football and three in track. 

On this day, we also celebrate the birthday of standout softball sophomore Annie Aldrete. Aldrete appeared in 58 games for the Vols, starting in 55 of them. She was named the NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year (Co-Winner) for her debut year. 


Happy Birthday - Sept. 4: Rainey Gaffin



Today, we celebrate the birthday of Tennessee softball junior Rainey Gaffin. The outfielder appeared in 45 games, starting in all but one, her sophomore year and held a solid .311 batting average. Gaffin was also named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in spring of 2014. 

NPF Interview With Madison Shipman

Tennessee softball legend Madison Shipman sits down with Barb Jordan to recap her standout rookie season in the NPF on CBS Sports Network.

Shipman was named the league's rookie of the year and helped the USSSA Pride win the league title.

Abbott Helps Chicago Stay Alive In NPF Playoffs

Tennessee softball legend and Chicago ace Monica Abbott tossed three hitless, shutout innings in relief and struck out three batters on Thursday to help the Bandits take a 4-1 victory over the Akron Racers and force a third game in their NPF Championship series semifinal best-of-three.

The Bandits, who also feature UT legend Ellen Renfroe on their roster, and the Racers will play on Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. That game will feature a live radio broadcast on MSASports.net.

The winner will advance to face the USSSA Pride in the final best-of-three series for the league championship. The first game of the finals is on Friday 8 p.m. ET. A matchup between the Chicago Bandits and the USSSA Pride would feature all of the UT alums currently in the NPF. Tennessee legend and NPF Rookie of the Year Madison Shipman stars for the Pride.

Shipman Blasts 2-Run HR To Lift USSSA To 4-2 Win

Tennessee softball legend Madison Shipman hit a two-run homer to help her USSSA Pride defeat the Akron Racers, 4-2, in a rain-shortened game on Monday.

Shipman also did an in-game interview on the headset. Check out her home run and interview in the video above!

The Pride and the Racers play again tonight at 7 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

Chavanne, Gibson Spark USA To 2 Wins In World Cup of Softball IX

Tennessee softball alums Raven Chavanne and Lauren Gibson were outstanding in Team USA's 3-2 win over Mexico and its 14-0 (4) win over Chinese Taipei on Saturday in the General Tire World Cup of Softball IX in Irvine, Calif.

Chavanne went 2-for-3 against Mexico with an inside-the-park home run and an RBI single and then went 2-for-3 against Chinese Taipei with two runs and one RBI. Through six games of the World Cup of Softball IX, Chavanne is hitting .556 (10-for-18) with one homer, seven RBIs, six runs, a .580 on-base percentage and a .722 slugging percentage (1.301 OPS).

Gibson shined against Chinese Taipei, going 2-for-2 with an RBI double and a big solo home run. In five appearances in the World Cup of Softball IX, Gibson is hitting .667 (8-for-12) with one homer, four doubles, five RBIs, six runs, a .773 on-base percentage and a ridiculous 1.250 slugging percentage (1.983 OPS).

Chavanne, Gibson and Team USA will play Canada, who they previously defeated 5-3 on July 10, on Sunday in the championship game of the General Tire World Cup of Softball IX. Tune in to watch it live at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Tennessee softball legends Lauren Gibson and Raven Chavanne sparked Team USA to a 5-3 win over Canada on Thursday in the General Tire World Cup of Softball IX in Irvine, Calif. Gibson went 3-for-3 with an RBI triple and a walk. Chavanne tallied two hits, including an RBI infield single. Team USA will next play Japan on Friday at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
