Tennessee softball legend and Chicago ace Monica Abbott tossed three hitless, shutout innings in relief and struck out three batters on Thursday to help the Bandits take a 4-1 victory over the Akron Racers and force a third game in their NPF Championship series semifinal best-of-three.
The Bandits, who also feature UT legend Ellen Renfroe on their roster, and the Racers will play on Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. That game will feature a live radio broadcast on MSASports.net.
The winner will advance to face the USSSA Pride in the final best-of-three series for the league championship. The first game of the finals is on Friday 8 p.m. ET. A matchup between the Chicago Bandits and the USSSA Pride would feature all of the UT alums currently in the NPF. Tennessee legend and NPF Rookie of the Year Madison Shipman stars for the Pride.
