Happy Birthday - Feb. 18: Outerbridge, Lea, Andrews & Hannon

On Feb. 18, we celebrate two current student-athletes birthdays, freshman outside hitter Jamie Lea and senior jumper Allison Outerbridge.


   

We would also like to wish happy birthday to former softball standout and current team manager Ashley Andrews and former football wide receiver Chris Hannon. Hannon was the only SEC wideout to catch three touchdown passes in a game during the 2003 season. His three touchdown catches tied the Tennessee game record held by six other players. 

   

Happy Birthday - Feb. 17: Akamine, Grotz and Morgan

A busy day for birthdays in the Tennessee Athletics family on Feb. 17.

Also celebrating is legendary football player and Football Hall of Fame nominee Stanley Morgan, who played 13 years in the NFL, mostly with the New England Patriots.


Happy Birthday - Feb. 16: Ivy Renfroe and Marie-Eve Nault

On February 16, we send birthday wishes to two former Lady Vols, softball's Ivy Renfroe and soccer's Marie-Eve Nault.

Ivy Renfroe made her mark in the record books while playing for the Lady Vols, she concluded her career ranked second in school history in appearances (176) and wins (97). She is also third in career innings pitched (749.2) and strikeouts (737). She finished her Tennessee career as one of the most dependable postseason pitchers, totaling 18 wins in the NCAA Tournament and helping UT to three WCWS appearances (2010, 2012, 2013)

Marie-Eve Nault played for the Lady Vols from 2000-2003 and is currently a Canadian soccer defender who plays for KIF Örebro and the Canada women's national soccer team. She represented Canada at the 2012 Summer Olympics winning the bronze medal.

Happy Birthday - Feb. 13: Charlie Garner and Kristi Durant

On February 13 - we send Happy Birthday wishes to former Vol Football great Charlie Garner and Louisville Slugger/NFCA First-Team All-American, Kristi Durant, who was a member of the Lady Vol softball team from 2003-2006.

Vol Calls Tonight At 8 p.m.


"Vol Calls" airs tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern / 7 p.m. Central from Calhoun's On the River in downtown Knoxville. 

Bob Kesling and Brent Hubbs will be joined in person by Tennessee head basketball coaches Cuonzo Martin and Holly Warlick, as the Vols and Lady Vols both face midweek home games. The UT men welcome Ole Miss to town Wednesday night (8 p.m., SEC TV), while the Big Orange women play host to Arkansas on Thursday (7 p.m., SportSouth).

Also joining the show as a call-in guest will be Lady Vol co-head softball coach Ralph Weekly, who along with wife Karen Weekly have their squad ranked No. 1 in the NFCA preseason poll. The Weeklys were inducted into the Tennessee Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame on Jan. 25 at a ceremony in Nashville.

Lady Vols Illustrated

Lady Vol fans can tune in to the Sports Animal every Monday night for Lady Vols Illustrated, a weekly radio show featuring Lady Vol basketball Head Coach Holly Warlick, one women's basketball student-athlete and one other Lady Vol student-athlete or coach.

Tonight's Lady Vols Illustrated features head coach Holly Warlick, redshirt freshman point guard Andraya Carter and Lady Vol softball co-head coach Karen Weekly. The women's basketball team is coming off a 76-55 win at Texas A&M Sunday where the Lady Vols handed the Aggies their first SEC loss this year, as well as broke TAMU's 10-game home winning streak. The Lady Vol softball team kicks off the 2014 season on Feb. 7 in Statesboro, Ga., at the Georgia Southern Tournament.

The program begins at 7 p.m. ET and fans can listen on 99.1 FM and 990 AM, as well as online at http://www.sportsanimal99.com/.

Tennessee Softball Takes Part In Martin Luther King Jr. Parade

On Monday, the Tennessee softball team took part in the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade.

The team gathered at St. John's Lutheran Church before heading down the parade route in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy and continued dream of equality for all.
