On July 29, we celebrate the birthday of former Tennessee swimmer Kirstyn Colonias. A December 2012 graduate, Colonias competed in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke for the Lady Vols.

Parrington Featured by SEC

The Southeastern Conference's Sean Cartell recently published a story about UT's longtime diving coach Dave Parrington

Parrington, who was voted the CSCAA Women's Diving Coach of the Year, has spent the last two weeks in Spain with rising senior Tori Lamp at the FINA World Championships. Lamp, the national diver of the year, placed 10th on platform Thursday. 

Linn Heading to Pa. Hall of Fame

Vol swimming great Jeremy Linn will be among those inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in October. 

Linn, who swam at UT from 1995-98, represented the United States at the 1996 Olympic Games. He was part of the world-record setting gold medal 400-meter medley relay team. He also claimed silver in the 100 breaststroke. 

Linn was a six-time NCAA champion in his time with the Vols. He won the NCAA title in the 100-yard breaststroke three times from 1996-98. He was part of both the Vols' championship medley relay teams in 1996 and won the 200 breaststroke in 1997. In SEC competition, Linn won four consecutive titles in the 100 breaststroke and two titles in the 200 breaststroke. He was the SEC Swimmer of the Year in 1995, 1997 and 1998. 

The hall of fame induction ceremonies will be Oct. 19. 

Happy Birthday - July 10: Jacob Gilliam, Chris Sadsad

Celebrating birthdays on July 10 are Knoxville native and Vol football offensive lineman Jacob Gilliam, as well as rising sophomore Vol swimmer Chris Sadsad.


Vols Win at Swedish Nationals

Swimmers Jacob Thulin and Gustav Aberg Lejdstrom both won events at the Swedish National Championships last week in their home nations.

Thulin, a rising senior, won the 100-meter butterfly in 54.51 seconds. 

Coming off his All-American freshman season, Aberg Ledjstrom captured the 400 freestyle in 3:58.91.
On July 7 we celebrate the birthdays of rising junior Vol swimmer Bryce BeVier and Vol offensive lineman Kyler Kerbyson. Former Vols and NFL running back Reggie Cobb also celebrates his birthday on July 7.


June 25 is one of the most popular days for birthdays on Rocky Top, as three VFLs, two current Vols and one current Lady Vol celebrate today. Happy Birthday to redshirt junior running back Austin Bolen, softball's junior shortstop Madison Shipman and sophomore swimmer Tristan Slater. Also celebrating today are former Lady Vol rower Ashley Case and former Vol baseball player Davis Morgan.


Lastly, we wish Tennessee basketball great Reggie Johnson a happy 56th birthday. A member of UT's All-Century Team, Johnson poured in 2,103 career points and currently ranks 5th all-time in the category.


Former Vol Letsinger Named Richmond Diving Coach

Another one of Dave Parrington's former athletes moved up the coaching ladders as former Vol Sean Letsinger was named the head diving coach at the University of Richmond earlier this week.

Knoxville native Letsinger dove for the Vols from 2007-10 and was a student assistant under Parrington for two season from 2010-12. He served as the diving coach at South Dakota State University during the 2012-13 season. 

Letsinger had a longtime role with Tennessee Diving, the Knoxville-area club team that trains at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center. He served as an assistant diving coach with the program from 2004-12. 

Earlier this summer, longtime Tennessee Diving director Brian Pritt became the diving coach at Kansas.  

On June 13, we wish Happy Birthday to two rising sophomores at Tennessee, Vol swimmer Ben Miller and Lady Vol rower Kahala Schneider. We also send Happy Birthday wishes to former Vol baseball player Chris Pierce and Lady Vol diver Gabrielle Trudeau.
