Happy Birthday - March 13: Hannis, Edwards and Martin

Lady Vol Illustrated & Vol Calls Set For Monday Night

Tennessee women's basketball assistant coach Dean Lockwood will be a special in-person guest on Lady Vol Illustrated at 7 p.m. ET, at Calhoun's On The River. Co-head coach of the softball team Ralph Weekly will join the show from California to talk about the 13-0 start for the Lady Vols. SEC gold medalist Tori Lamp will also be an in-person guest to talk about her SEC Championship diving performance tonight.

Co-hosts Bob Kesling and Brent Hubbs will also have a live on-air interview with UT assistant football coach Tommy Thigpen, who was recently name National Recruiter of the Year by Rivals.com. On Jan. 14, we wish Happy Birthday to Tennessee football defensive back Max Arnold and recently graduated All-American swimmer Ed Walsh. Walsh is now a volunteer assistant swim coach on the UT staff.

On Dec. 30, we celebrate the birthdays of senior women's soccer player Tori Bailey, freshman rower Bridget Boland, sophomore right-handed pitcher Trevor Charpie and junior swimmer Erin Gaeckle.

Kredich Named SwimSwam Coach of Year

Matt Kredich was named the 2013 college coach of the year in SwimSwam's end-year Swammy Awards

In 2012-13, Kredich wrapped up his first season as the head coach of the newly combined men's and women's programs. The women's squad enjoyed its most successful season in 2013, finishing third at the NCAA Championships. The men improved to finish 16th at NCAAs, six places higher than 2012.

The team won its first three relays in program history -- the 200 freestyle relay, the 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay. Lindsay Gendron made the A finals in all three of her individual events, and Tori Lamp and Jodie McGroarty scored major points in diving.

SwimSwam has also recently released its power rankings through the fall season. The women were seventh and the men were 15th.

Women's Swimming Ranked Eighth Nationally

The women's swimming and diving team is opening the year ranked eighth nationally. UT is coming off a banner year in which the team finished third at the NCAA Championships and won its first three NCAA relay titles. 

The CSCAA D1 Poll Committee will produce in-season rankings of the 25 best performing NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving teams in rank order at the time of each poll.  The poll is not designed to predict the results of the NCAA Championship, but rather which teams would win head-to-head against other teams in the country. Ranking are based on performances that have taken place since the previous poll and include invites as well as dual meets.

Happy Birthday - Oct. 29: Dickey, Henry, Marciniak, Solernou

There are lots of birthdays with Tennessee ties to celebrate on Oct. 29.

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher R.A. Dickey, a three-time All-American while pitching for the Vols in the 1990s.

Former Vols running back Travis Henry, who is Tennessee's all-time leading rusher with 3,078 yards.

All-American women's basketball legend Michelle Marciniak, the MVP of the 1996 Final Four.

Current women's swimmer senior Lauren Solernou also celebrates her birthday today.
