Gendron Featured on Morning Swim Show



Junior Lindsay Gendron was featured on the Morning Swim Show, an online video program by Swimming World. She talks about how the season has gone so far, plus the changes to the coaching staff and combination of the men's and women's program.

This season, Gendron has been practically perfect off the blocks. Counting Friday's meet, she has won all 10 races she has competed in this year. 

Vols Jump to No. 13 in Swimming Poll

The Vols climbed 11 places to No. 13 in the CSCAA Men's Division I Swimming and Diving National Rankings.

The poll, voted on by a select group of coaches, was released late Tuesday evening. By all accounts, Tennessee (3-1, 1-0 SEC) benefitted from a home victory over Louisville, now ranked 23rd. The rankings are based on dual meet strength of teams, rather than which team would perform best at the NCAA Championships. 

The Lady Vols are currently ranked eighth in the women's poll.

Ask a Coach! with Fenwick Series Continues

Swimming associate coach Tyler Fenwick has been chiming in on a weekly Ask a Coach! series of columns with Swimming World's website. 

This week, Fenwick answers a question about training and competing on a single-gender team. He has coaching experience in both instances. He coached the national men's team at Mission Viejo and was previously a volunteer assistant with the Lady Vols before joining Tennessee's staff full time to be part of the newly combined men's and women's program this season.

Women's Swimming and Diving Ranked No. 8

The Lady Vols opened the year at No. 8 in the first CSCAA Division I women's swimming and diving poll, which was released Wednesday evening. 

Tennessee has started the year 4-0 and 1-0 in the SEC. Two of the Lady Vols' victories already this season have come against No. 13 Indiana and No. 19 Louisville. The Lady Vols return to action Nov. 9 at home against Ohio State, a team that received votes in the opening poll. 

The Lady Vols finished last spring second in the SEC Championships and seventh in the NCAA Championships.

The men's rankings were released last week, and the Vols checked in at No. 24.

Happy Birthday - Oct. 29: Dickey, Gelb, Henry, Marciniak, Solernou

Lots of birthdays to celebrate on Oct. 29. 

New York Mets pitcher Cy Young candidate R.A. Dickey, a three-time All-American while pitching for the Vols in the 1990s.

Tennessee swimmer Samara Gelb, who graduated from UT in 2012.

Former Vols star running back Travis Henry, who is Tennessee's all-time leading rusher with 3,078 yards. Henry played seven years in the NFL.

All-American women's basketball legend Michelle Marciniak was named the MVP of the 1996 FInal Four as UT won the National Championship.

Current Tennessee swimmer Lauren Solernou also celebrates her birthday on Oct. 29.

Men's Swimming & Diving Team Ranked 24th

The College Swim Coaches Association of American's first NCAA Division I men's rankings were released Wednesday, and the Vols came in at No. 24.

The men's team is 2-1 overall this year and 1-0 in SEC play. The Vols and Lady Vols host Louisville on Thursday at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center at 4 p.m. Eastern.
