Former Vol Letsinger Named Richmond Diving Coach

Another one of Dave Parrington's former athletes moved up the coaching ladders as former Vol Sean Letsinger was named the head diving coach at the University of Richmond earlier this week.

Knoxville native Letsinger dove for the Vols from 2007-10 and was a student assistant under Parrington for two season from 2010-12. He served as the diving coach at South Dakota State University during the 2012-13 season.

Letsinger had a longtime role with Tennessee Diving, the Knoxville-area club team that trains at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center. He served as an assistant diving coach with the program from 2004-12.

Earlier this summer, longtime Tennessee Diving director Brian Pritt became the diving coach at Kansas.

On June 13, we wish Happy Birthday to two rising sophomores at Tennessee, Vol swimmer Ben Miller and Lady Vol rower Kahala Schneider. We also send Happy Birthday wishes to former Vol baseball player Chris Pierce and Lady Vol diver Gabrielle Trudeau.

Barry Added to Ireland's World Championship Team

Former swimming All-American Barry Murphy was added to Ireland's squad for the FINA World Championships, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain, starting in late July.

Murphy was been one of Swimming Ireland's best, especially in the breaststroke. He represented Ireland in his Olympic debut last summer in London.

During his college career, Murphy called Knoxville home from 2006-09. He was a 19-time All-American during that time and served a vital role on the Vols' relay teams. He still holds the UT record for the 50-yard freestyle, finishing the race in 19.14 seconds at the 2009 NCAA Championships.

The United States' World Championship squad will be determined at a meet later this month, with the Vols and Lady Vols both set to bring a large contingent.

Pritt Named Diving Coach at Kansas

Former Tennessee diver Brian Pritt, who has served as volunteer assistant for the UT diving program the last three years, was recently named head diving coach at the University of Kansas.

Pritt lettered for the Vols as a diver from 1991-94 and competed on Dave Parrington's first diving squads at Tennessee. In addition to working alongside Parrington with the Vols and Lady Vols, Pritt has also been directing the age group program for Tennessee Diving, a Knoxville diving club based out of the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.

During Pritt's three-year stint as volunteer assistant at UT, Tennessee has enjoyed one of its best periods of diving success in program history.

In the last two seasons alone, the Vols and Lady Vols have earned SEC Diver of the Year accolades three times (Tori Lamp in 2012 and 2013; Ryan Helms in 2012) and have claimed five SEC titles. Tori Lamp was recently named the CSCAA National Women's Diver of the Year for her performance at the NCAA Championships, and Parrington was voted the 2013 CSCAA National Women's Diving Coach of the Year. Three Tennessee divers qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, and Lamp recently won the platform competition at the U.S. World Trials.

"(Dave) was been a great mentor to me, and he definitely knows his stuff," Pritt said in Kansas' press release. "I have learned a lot from him and grew with him. I have learned a lot along the way too, and he has been there every step of the way and he has always been so supportive of me. I couldn't ask for a better coach."
