On Feb. 8 we would like to wish a happy birthday to pole vaulter/javelin thrower Chase Brannon of the men's track and field team who turns 22 today!
We would also like to wish a happy birthday to Reggie and Raleigh McKenzie of Vol Football fame!
Reggie, is currently the general manager of the Oakland Raiders and was honored during the 2012 season as a Legend of the Game for the Troy game on Nov. 3, 2012 while Raleigh is a scout for the Raiders' organization
Reggie and Raleigh starred for the Vols in the early 1980s. Knoxville natives and Austin-East High School graduates, Reggie played in 43 games during his time on Rocky Top accumulating 174 tackles and four sacks before going on to play in the NFL from 1985-1992.
Raleigh played three years for the Vols from 1982-84 as a center before moving on to the NFL and playing for the Washington Redskins from 1985-1994.
Also celebrating a birthday is and former Lady Vols basketball star and current head coach of the Ohio Bobcats, Semeka Randall.
Randall helped the Lady Vols to the 1998 NCAA Championship in a season where UT finished with a perfect 39-0 record. She was a member of "The Meeks" alongside Lady Vol stars Tamika Catchings and Chamique Holdsclaw, was a two-time All-American and later went on to play in the WNBA.
University of Tennessee faculty, students, staff and alumni are sharing their big ideas that are making a difference in the world around them. Recent Lady Vol track & field alum Elizabeth Tiller - a 2012 graduate in public administration and Spanish - shared her big idea of improving the lives of the homeless and underprivileged through a 5K fundraiser.
