Boren, Szekely Advance at Riviera ITA All-American Championships

Doubles Results

On day one of the Riviera ITA Women's All-American Championships, the No. 34 ranked doubles pair of Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely advanced on to round two of qualifying.

The duo earned a 9-8 victory over Jackie Kasler and Jen Pfeifier of Auburn University in round one and will move on to face the No. 5 seed of Aleksandra Josifoska and Nives Pavlovic of UNLV tomorrow.

Kasler and Pfiefier won three doubles matches in two days this weekend to earn their spot in the qualifying round.

Szekely, ranked No. 28, also played a singles match Tuesday. Results to follow later.

Lady Vols Furman Fall Classic Tennis Update (9/22)

Day two of doubles competition has wrapped up at the Furman Fall Classic.

In the flight one championship match, Caitlyn Williams and Joanna Henderson fell to their counterparts from North Carolina, 8-4. The duo finished second in their first competition together in 2012, and in just their seventh match together as a partnership.

Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely took home fifth place in flight one after defeating Jaklin Alawi and Dominika Kanakova from South Carolina 8-5 in their final doubles match of the tournament.

The freshman duo of Tiffany Tavares and Mimi Fotopoulos earned their first doubles victory of the season in the flight two seventh place match with a 8-6 win over the host team's duo of Michele Stanford and Amanda Murray.

Lady Vols Furman Fall Classic Tennis Update (9/21)

The doubles competition is over on day one of the Furman Fall Classic.

The duo of Joanna Henderson and Caitlyn Williams find themselves in the flight one doubles finals after defeating both of their opponents from South Carolina and Alabama in rounds one and two of the doubles tournament Friday morning.

The No. 34 ranked doubles pair of Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely fell in the first round of doubles play to their opponents from UNC but rebounded with a round two victory to move on to the fifth place game on Saturday morning.

The freshman duo of Tiffany Tavares and Mimi Fotopolous fell twice on day one and will play in the flight two 7th place game Saturday morning.

Williams Takes Southern Adult Claycourt Title

The one seed of the Southern Adult Claycourt Championship, Tennessee sophomore women's tennis player Caitlyn Williams outlasted her teammate and second seeded Jesse Grace to earn the title.

Williams defeated Grace 6-1 in the first set but had to battle to a 7-5 victory in the second set to earn the win.

Grace, Williams To Face Off In Claycourt Open

University of Tennessee sophomores Jesse Grace and Caitlyn Williams will face off Sunday in the finals of the Southern Adult Claycourt Open at the Knoxville Racquet Club.

Williams, a native of Knoxville, and the No. 1 seed in the tournament will take on her teammate and Germiston, South Africa native Grace, the No. 2 seed.

Williams has not dropped a game during the tournament defeating Erin Allen in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals followed by another 6-0. 6-0 victory over Kathryn Evans in the semifinals yesterday.

Grace took down Emily Holloway 6-0, 6-1 in the quarters and defeated Tennessee teammate Kayla McMurry 6-1, 6-0 in the semis. (McMurry advanced to the semis after a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Rachel Hinkle).

Also of note, Grace and McMurry took home the doubles championship with an easy 6-2, 6-1 victory over Megan Conley and Holloway.

Pluskota Falls In Odlum Brown Van Open Finals

After a thrilling run in the Odlum Brown Vancouver Open, University of Tennessee women's tennis player Natalie Pluskota fell in the doubles championship with partner Jacqueline Cako, Saturday.

The duo battled to the end falling in the first set 6-4, but earning the second set victory over Julia Glushko (ISR) and Olivia Rogowska (AUS), 7-5.

Pluskota and Cako's third set went to extra points for the second straight match, however this time it was not in their favor as Glusko and Rogowska went on to earn the 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 win.

Pluskota Advances To Odlum Brown Doubles Finals

Recent graduate Natalie Pluskota has advanced on to the doubles finals of the Odlum Brown Vancouver Open with partner, and Arizona State junior Jacqueline Cako.

The duo came back to defeat third seeded Jessica Pegula and Taylor Townsend 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 in the semifinal round Friday night.

Pluskota and Cako will face off against Julia Glushko (ISR) and Olivia Rogowska (AUS) in the final once again on Centre Court Saturday night.

Pluskota To Odlum Brown VanOpen Semis

Recent Tennessee graduate Natalie Pluskota has been making her way through the International Tennis Federation Pro Circuit this summer.

After winning the U.S. Open Southern Sectional Qualifying in Alpharetta, Ga., she will play in the U.S. Open National tournament Aug. 17-20 at Yale University to earn a wild card spot in the Grand Slam tournament.

Pluskota defeated Alabama junior Mary Anne Macfarlane 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-4 to earn her bid into the qualifier, rallying from a 4-0 third-set deficit to win the last six games in 100-degree heat.

Most recently the Newnan, Ga. native traveled west, and north, to Vancouver where she has found herself in the semifinals of the Odlum Brown VanOpen doubles tournament.

Partnered with Jacqueline Cako of the Arizona State women's tennis team, the duo will play Friday, August 3 on Centre Court at approximately 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Also of note, returning junior Brynn Boren has spent much of her summer in Europe playing in clay court tournaments.
