  PLANNED INTERCOLLEGIATE GOLF COMPLEX

The M.C. James Driving Range, opened in the fall of 1985, provides the Vol golfers with one of the top practice facilities in collegiate golf.

The range, located off campus in West Knoxville, is named in honor of former Vol golf captain and U.S.G.A. Committeeman, M.C. James Jr.

The range features four bermuda tees and three target greens. The facility also has a 15,000-square-foot bentgrass green with a sand trap to sharpen the players' short game.

Additionally, a two-tiered bermuda pitching green with a sand trap has been added which allows team members to practice any conceivable pitch or chip shot that may arise in tournament play.

In the event of inclement weather, an overhang is located on the back of the range building allowing players to work on their games under any conditions.

To assist the athlete in analyzing his swing, the range also features a video camera and a slow-motion video cassette recorder.
