| Dance Comes Up Short in Bid for 4th National Title | ||

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (2/3/10) - By the narrowest of margins Minnesota escaped with the coveted 2010 Universal Dance Association national title. In one of the closest competitions in memory Tennessee's dance team lost their bid to captured a fourth national crown by 1.5 points.

| Dance Team Claims 3rd National Championship | ||

Orlando, Fla. (1/19/09) - After winning two national titles there is a thought that maybe one would be complacent or that time would catch up with them. Tennessee's dance team left no doubt and put to rest any thought of complacency in the semi-finals on Saturday night and then proceeded to nail its third straight national crown, in the Jazz Division, in resounding fashion on Sunday night at Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports.

| Dance Team Claims 2nd National Championship | ||

Orlando, Fla. (1/21/08) - After some stormy weather postponed events until the final day of competition, Tennessee's dance team used the extra time to hone their routine en route to their second straight national championship in the jazz routine at Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports Complex.
The final day of competition saw both the dance and cheer team turn in performances that would make any coach and alumni proud. As the final day of competition came to a close, Tennessee's spirit squads brought home a total of two national championships, a second-place finish by the cheer squad, and fifth-place finish by the dance team in the hip-hop division and a good showing by the cheer duo of senior Clayton Baker and freshman Mandy Pitto. By many accounts, it was a great weekend and one the University of Tennessee fans, alumni and administrators can be proud to support. | |
| Smokey Captures Third National Crown | ||

Orlando, Fla. (1/14/08) - Smokey returned to the top of the mascot mountain Friday night in the land of magical dreams as Smokey claimed his third national championship at the Universal Cheerleading Association National Championships at Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports Complex. A proud program, which now has its third national championship in the last nine years and first since 2001, has come so close to reclaiming the top spot among the nation's elite mascots, only to fall short. Since winning back-to-back national championship in 2000-01, Smokey has finished no lower than fifth and claiming runner up once. | |
| Dance Team Captures First National Crown | ||

Orlando, Fla. (1/14/07) - Tennessee's long elusive national crown finally found its resting place in Knoxville as Tennessee's Dance team captured its first national crown in commanding fashion at in the land of dreams and wishes. At the Milk House in Orlando, Florida, Tennessee put on a dominating performance before a packed house at the Wide World of Sports Complex. Performing to "Your House" by Alisa Morissette, the dance team performed to an Acapella version of the song and simply rocked the house. | |
| Smith and Black named All-American by Inside Cheerleading Magazine | ||

Inside Cheerleading magazine named junior Lindsay Smith (Memphis, Tenn.) and senior Jeremy Black (Bessemer/McCalla, Ala.) to its third annual IC Collegiate All-American team. Smith earned Head of the Class honors along with two other student-athletes, the top honor given out by the magazine.
The editorial team at Inside Cheerleading attended games, competitions and events across the country and selected a group of collegiate cheerleaders who stand out in terms of enthusiasm, athleticism, repertoire of skills, crowd-leading ability, spirit and overall personality. | |
| Cheer Squad Leads Way on Final Day of National Championships | ||

Orlando, Fla. (1/20/06) - With the backdrop of the Magic Kingdom and beautiful blue skies, Tennessee reigned down on The Milk House at Walt Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex last Sunday afternoon. When the dust settled the Volunteers cheerleading, dance and mascot squads were the only program to produce Top 10 finishes in all categories, led by second-place finishes by the cheer squad in Division IA and the dance squad in the Division IA jazz competition. | |

(2/10/05) - Tennessee's cheer squad completed the final day of competition in fine fashion as they outperformed all but one at the Universal Cheerleading National Championships held at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports Complex this past Sunday sponsored by Universal Cheerleading Association, Universal Dance Association and Varsity. | ||
| Col. Moeller Honored by UCA/UDA | ||
| Orlando, Fla. (2/10/05) - On the final night of competition at the 2005 UCA/UDA National Championships one of Tennessee's own was honored for his contributions to the growth of the spirit groups at Tennessee. And fittingly Col. Gene Moeller's name will be etched on a plaque each year as UCA recognizes a university administrator who has made an impact on the collegiate level of cheerleading, dance and mascots. | ||
