KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Over 90 UT student-athletes gathered on Monday, April 29, at the Tennessee Terrace to honor influential faculty at the annual Junior-Faculty Luncheon hosted by the Thornton Center.
At the end of every spring semester, student-athletes with junior academic classification invite one faculty member as a guest to the luncheon, where the student-athletes show appreciation for those who have impacted them and helped them to grow personally or academically.
Student-athletes led the event. Football's Raijon Neal gave the opening and closing remarks, and football's Michael Palardy and rowing's Courtney Fritts were also featured speakers. Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor Dr. Susan Martin also addressed the crowd. Each student-athlete had the opportunity to introduce his or her faculty guest to the group and express why he or she invited them.
Every team was represented with student-athletes and coaches, along with members of the senior staff, Thornton Center academic counselors and employees, Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Don Bruce and Vice Chancellor and Athletics Director Dave Hart.
