The following is a statement from UT Athletic Directors Doug Dickey and Joan Cronan regarding the report presented to the Athletics Board by the Athletic Committee of the Faculty Senate:

"The University of Tennessee Athletics Departments have thoroughly reviewed the report presented to us at the Athletic Board meeting April 15, 2000, by the Athletic Committee of the Faculty Senate, chaired by Dr. Burt English. We appreciate the excellent work done by this committee and the findings and recommendations that have been presented. We wholeheartedly endorse their recommendations and have met with the acting Provost, Dr. Cliff Woods, to relay this information to him. We will look forward to working with UT president, Dr. J. Wade Gilley, and Dr. Woods to put in place those actions necessary to strengthen the academic support system at the University of Tennessee. We are moving to a new academic support facility Oct. 15 and hope, by that time, to have all necessary recommendations for the management of our program thoroughly in place. Again, we appreciate the work of this committee and its recommendations and look forward to working with Dr. Woods and Dr. Gilley."
