UT's Athletics Director of Annual Giving, Jennifer Wiggins, was inducted last week into the South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame.
Wiggins was a four-time first team All-Conference cross country runner at Mars Hill College and was the catalyst for moving the Mars Hill program from the middle of the pack in 1996 to SAC champions in 1997 and 1998. She was first team All-Region in 1996 in a field of 72 teams.
Wiggins also excelled in the classroom. She was named Academic All-Region three times, the SAC Scholar-Athlete for women's cross country in 1998 and received the President's Award in 1999. She received an NCAA postgraduate scholarship and was named the 1999 NCAA Woman of the Year for North Carolina, the only female in SAC history to earn that honor.
Wiggins received her bachelor's degree from Mars Hill in 1999 and her master's in human performance and sport studies from Tennessee in 2001. She returned to UT in 2003 as associate director of annual giving and was promoted to the director's position in January.
