University of Tennessee Head Athletic Trainer Jason McVeigh announced Tuesday that John Dean has been hired as director of rehabilitation and assistant athletic trainer. Dean fills the void left when McVeigh was promoted earlier this year.
"I'm delighted to be here at Tennessee," Dean said. "Knowing that UT has a long history of success on the fields of competition and also in sports medicine made me want to be a part of this growing program."
In addition to working as the football trainer at the University of Florida (2004-2006), Dean has also spent time as a trainer at the University of Southern California (2002-04) working with the Trojans football and baseball programs. His experience also includes an adjunct professorship in UF's Applied Physiology & Kinesiology Program.
Dean graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Diego State University in 2000 with a B.S. degree in kinesiology and athletic training. He then went on to earn his master's degree in physical therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002.
