Vol Network's Greatest Hits CD - Volume I now available.
Sept. 5, 2003
Vol Network Home Entertainment announces the arrival of a one-of-a-kind compact disk product for the 2003 football season. The audio CD entitled "Vol Network Greatest Hits: Volume I" has just hit store shelves across the state of Tennessee.
The CD features 26 tracks and contains almost 70 minutes of the most legendary plays and games from the Vol Radio Network archives, along with the greatest hits from the University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland Marching Band. The CD features special tracks on the 1986 Sugar Bowl, the 1991 UT-Notre Dame game and the 1998 national championship season.
"It's the ultimate tailgating CD for Tennessee football fans," said Glenn Thackston, operations manager of Host Communications/Vol Network. "It features the most exciting radio play-by-play moments in Vol Network history, plus the best of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band."
Other tracks of note include segments on the Tennessee defense, the Third Saturday in October (Tennessee-Alabama rivalry), the only known audio in existence of Hall of Fame coach General Robert R. Neyland and the re-mixed release of "Rocky Top" by the Osborne Brothers. There are also four tracks devoted to the most famous plays in Tennessee football history.
The CD features the Vol Radio Network play-by-play of George Mooney (1952-67), John Ward (1968-98) and Bob Kesling (1999-present). The CD salutes and represents the 54 years the Vol Network has served as the "Statewide Stadium" to University of Tennessee fans across the Volunteer State.
The "Vol Network Greatest Hits: Volume I" CD retails for $14.99 and can be found at participating JCPenney stores across the state or at other UT licensed retail outlets. It also will be available soon on-line in the Vol Network Store at volmall.com.
