In week seven of the Capital One Mascot Challenge, Smokey is facing The University of Miami's Sebastian the Ibis. Smokey is 5-1 so far in the mascot competition after back to back wins. Tied with Georgia Tech's The Buzz with 5-1 records, Smokey trails in cumulative votes and resides in sole possession of 2nd place.

Smokey has been selected to the Capital One 2005 All-America Mascot Team. As one of the 12 named to the team, Smokey receives $5000 for UT's mascot program with the hopes of an additional $5000 if selected as the Mascot of the Year.
This final selection process has begun and fans can vote online at www.capitalonebowl.com. The winner will be announced January 2, 2006.
Smokey's selection was based on a personal portfolio and video compilation of his many roles.
This selection will afford the University of Tennessee weekly coverage during commercials on ABC Football Saturdays as well as other appearing on "WHEEL OF FORTUNE". Smokey has earned this honor in three of the last four years.
Fans also need to be on the lookout for the Mascot Mobile Tour which will be visiting Tennessee's campus Oct. 8 to offer Volunteers fans the "ultimate mascot experience", including photo opportunities, mascot facts and statistics, voting stations, interactice games and more.
