Participate in 25th UT-UK Blood Drive

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The 25th annual Battle of the Orange and Blue, a blood drive competition between Tennessee and Kentucky, will be held November 12-16.

MEDIC Regional Blood Center is calling all students to show their Vols' spirit and volunteer to give blood.

Students and faculty will have the opportunity to donate blood throughout the week at different sights on campus including the University Center and several resident halls.

Students and faculty who donate will receive a free T-shirt, a free small pizza from Papa John's Pizza and a free cholesterol screening. And, if donors can make their way to MEDIC's headquarters located at 1601 Ailor Avenue (straight up 17th St.) during the week they will receive a free Regal Cinema movie pass with no restrictions or expiration. The movie passes will only be given out at the Ailor Avenue location which is open 8 a.m.- 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Kentucky fans have won this competition the last two years and the overall record over the years is 12 wins for Vols and 12 wins for Wildcat fans with one tie back in 1992.

MEDIC challenges all students and faculty to take a small amount of time out of their day and donate blood.

Monday, November 12:
• University Center, Suites 223-225, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
• Papa John's/Lake Avenue, 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Tuesday, November 13:
• University Center, Suites 223-225, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
• Institute of Agriculture, Bloodmobile, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
• South Carrick Hall, Lobby, 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Wednesday, November 14:
• University Center, Suites 223-225, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
• Hess Hall, Lobby, 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Thursday, November 15:
• University Center, Suites 223-225, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Friday, November 16:
• University Center, Suites 223-225, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

All week:
MEDIC Headquarters 1601 Ailor Avenue (straight up 17th St.), 8 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., Regal Cinema movie tickets for donors.

This blood drive competition was started to help both blood centers supply local hospitals with life-saving blood during the holiday season when blood collections traditionally hit an all-time low.

MEDIC, a not-for-profit blood center, was established in 1958. MEDIC is the only blood collector and supplier for the greater East Tennessee area.
