8:47 p.m. -- Bobby Osborne and the Rocky Top Express is at midfield performing "Rocky Top." That's about as Tennessee as it gets, and the fans know it.

8:45 p.m. -- The Pride of the Southland Band and the UT Alumni Band performs the Circle Drill. Impressive.

8:38 p.m. -- Crompton has 305 yards passing at the half. The most the Vols have scored in a half of play is 49 points (UL-Monroe, 2000; a 70-3 victory), and the most they have scored in a quarter is 35 (UT scored 28 points in the second quarter).

SECOND QUARTER

8:35 p.m. -- Johnson returns the kickoff to the 35 as the half expires. There are flags on the play as a couple of players get into a scuffle: It's a personal foul on Memphis for unsportsmanlike conduct, and the penalty will be enforced to start the second half. Both head coaches are getting explanations at midfield from the officials.

8:32 p.m. -- TIMEOUT TENNESSEE: 0:18 on the clock.

8:32 p.m. -- Crompton hits a wide-open Brown over the middle for 21 yards after Brown sprints to the sideline. He doesn't make it out of bounds.

8:23 p.m. -- Memphis completes a 10-yard pass to move the chains, then Steele reels off a 21-yard rush to move the ball to the 50. The drive continues as Hudgens completes to Baker on the UT sideline for 14 yards to the 36.

8:22 p.m. -- Hudgens' pass is incomplete, but Tennessee is flagged for pass interference. The ball moves to the 19, and it's first down Tigers.

8:21 p.m. -- TIMEOUT TENNESSEE: 1:59 on the clock.

8:21 p.m. -- Steele carries for 2 yards on second down, and the Tigers get the ball to the 14.

8:19 p.m. -- Memphis' Hightower drops the kickoff, picks it up and runs it out to the 12 where the Tiger drive begins.

8:17 p.m. -- Crompton is 16-of-21 for 251 yards and four touchdowns on the night. This score was the first career touchdown catch for Richardson.

8:15 p.m. -- Crompton connects one more time, this one to Stocker over the middle for a big gain of 29 yards to the 14. There's 2:33 left in the half.

8:13 p.m. -- Crompton connects with Moore on the UT sideline for 12 yards and a new set of downs. Then Crompton hits Richardson on the other side of the field for another first down, this time a gain of 16. Ball is on the UM 43.

8:11 p.m. -- Crompton is sacked for a loss of 4, going back to the 16-yard line. His response: A first-down pass to Stocker to move the chains and place the ball on the 24.

CHANGE OF POSSESSION: 6:24 on the clock.

7:58 P.M. -- Brown rips off an 11-yard run through the middle for a first down at the 15. Hardesty follows with a 3-yard catch to the sideline.

7:56 p.m. -- TURNOVER: Memphis returns the kickoff, but Shane Reveiz makes a big hit and causes a fumble. Poole recovers for UT at the UT 26, where the Vols take over.

7:52 p.m. -- Crompton rolls out on first down and throws a bomb to the right side. Jones is in double-coverage, leaps and hauls it in for a 37-yard gain to the Tiger 23.

7:51 p.m. -- It's fourth down again for the Vols after a completion and two short runs, and Hardesty does his trademark spin move to fall for the first down. Ball on the UT 40 and first down.

7:48 p.m. -- Hudgens is sacked by UT's Walker and Brown for a loss of 10. Memphis sets up to punt from the UM 35 and the kick sails out of bounds at the UT 26.

FIRST QUARTER

7:42 p.m. -- Hudgens completes to Calhoun, and then Pitts carries to get the first down. Ball is on the UM 42.

7:19 p.m. -- Crompton pump fakes and then unleashes a 33-yard jet to Hancock on the right sideline. It puts the Vols on the 7 with a first down. Delay of game on the Vols before the snap, pushing them back to the 12.

7:18 p.m. -- Consecutive incompletions by Crompton, but the second one is called for pass interference on Memphis for a 15-yard penalty and automatic first down. It takes the Vols to the UM 40.

7:07 p.m. -- Crompton completes to Moore on the sideline on second down for 7 yards, bringing up third-and-3.

7:05 p.m. -- Oku takes the Memphis kickoff and cuts it back across field and past the coverage. He's run down on the angle all the way down to the UM 24. It was a 69-yard return.

PREGAME

7:03 p.m. -- Memphis wins the toss and Tennessee will receive the ball to start the game.

7:01 p.m. -- As the band forms the Power T, the Tennessee Volunteers burst through and race onto the field with Smokey leading the way on homecoming.

6:51 p.m. -- The Pride of the Southland Marching Band steps onto the field for the invocation and national anthem.

6:48 p.m. -- Tennessee's Legends of the Game All-SEC center Bubba Miller (1992-95) and All-America kicker Ricky Townsend (1972-74) are on the field.

6:45 p.m. -- The Tennessee Walking Horse is making its traditional homecoming lap around the field. Tough to beat. This year's horse is "Watch it Now," the 2009 World Grand Champion.

6:44 p.m. -- Scouts from the Chick-fil-A Bowl are present for tonight's game.

6:42 p.m. -- The Tennessee Walking Horse is standing in front of the Memphis fans with its rider. The horse is looking tough with a black cover and a solid orange T on the side.

6:35 p.m. -- Traditional orange shirts with white pants for the Vols on homecoming. Of course, the blog is reminded that warmups last week were in orange shirts.

6:21 p.m. -- It's homecoming on The Hill and less than 40 minutes until kickoff against the Memphis Tigers. Both teams are going through pregame warmups as darkness has fallen on Neyland Stadium.
