AT TENNESSEE:

2005-06: Led Tennessee's rebirth onto the national scene by compiling a team-high 11 points at the NCAA Championships after taking eighth place in the 200y IM...Advanced to the championship final by charting a season-best 1:59.13...Also swam with all five relays that secured top-16 finishes at the national meet, marking the first time UT had achieved the feat since 1996... Each of these relays set school records during the season...Efforts helped Team Orange claim 12th place...Was a force at the Southeastern Conference Championships, banking 36 points for the Orange and White...Advanced to the championship final in the 200y freestyle and 200y IM, snaring sixth place in each event...Turned in an incredible anchor leg with the 800y freestyle relay to help Tennessee shatter the school standard in the event by more than eight seconds...On the final leg, Tomes entered the water trailing by a substantial 1.97 seconds to Auburn's Adrienne Binder...In a dynamic display of determination, Tomes swam down her rival to lift UT to its best outcome in the event since 1995...Member of other four relays at SECs which tallied points...During the regular season, displayed her competitive spirit by registering a team-high 13 wins in 19 individual races...Triumphs in the 100y breaststroke in the Big Orange romp against Northwestern and 500y freestyle versus Florida were especially impressive...Tomes had never swam either event on the season...Guided 10 relay squads to victory as well.

2004-05: Became a three-time All-American at the 2005 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships...Claimed 16th place in the 200y IM...Anchored the 800y freestyle relay which touched the wall 11th in 7:16.75, the then fastest time in program history...Swam final leg of 400y medley relay quartet which recorded a 15th-place finish at the national meet...Had an outstanding performance at the SEC Championships, setting the school record in the 200y IM and swimming on then four program-best relay squads...Swam the last leg on all of the relays...Became the first orange-clad swimmer to ever eclipse 2:01.00 in the 200y IM, doing so twice at the league tilt...Clocked a program best and NCAA automatic standard in preliminary action in the 200y IM, finishing in 1:58.45...In the championship finals, touched the wall in 1:59.05 to notch fourth place...Also competed for a SEC crown in the 100y backstroke, claiming sixth...Turned in a career-best effort of 55.00 in the prelims of the 100y back...Advanced to the consolation final in the 100y freestyle, clocking a season-best time of 50.30 to earn 14th...Posted a then career-low time of 2:01.07 on Jan. 15 in the 200y IM to break former All-American Jenny McGrath's record set in 1994 against LSU and Virginia...Earned 19 top-five finishes during the regular season, including an impressive nine victories in dual meets...Additionally, the Ohio native was a member of five winning relay squads.

2003-04: In her freshman campaign, Tomes was a NCAA qualifier in three events, the 200m IM, the 200m freestyle and the 100m backstroke...Swam seven events on the year, cracking the all-time top performers list in six of those seven events...Moved into the record books as the then third-fastest UT swimmer in the 200y freestyle with a 1:48.25 clocking at the SEC Championship...Also at the Championships, etched her named as the then sixth-best Lady Vol swimmer in the 100y backstroke with a final marker of 55.47...Became the then12th-fastest swimmer in Lady Vol in the 100y freestyle with a time of 50.98 in dual-meet against Auburn...In the narrow victory over Ohio State, Tomes clocked a time of 4:54.41 to become the 14th-faster Lady Vol swimmer in the 500y freestyle...While competing at the Houston Invite, Tomes became the school's then 20th-fastest swimmer in the 200y backstroke, with a time of 2:05.00...Overall on the year, claimed 19 individual titles on the year, including three victories in both of the Lady Vols' wins over Northwestern and Arkansas...Of those 19 crowns, 13 came in dual-meet action...Also was a member of 11 victorious relay squads...Named to the Lady Vol Academic Honor Roll for her achievements in the classroom.

NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL: Qualified for and competed in the 2004 U.S. Olympic Swimming and Diving Trials in the 200 IM...Advanced to the semifinals at the Trials.

HIGH SCHOOL: Performance in the pool produced eight All-America certificates from the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association from 2000 to 2002...Garnered All-America recognition in every high school event in 2003...Captured state title in the 200y IM in 2002 and 2003 and in the 100y freestyle in 2003...Also a national champion in the 200y IM...Was a member of the National Honor Society.
