DUAL MEET RECAP
  • Competed in three meets during the fall semester
  • Clocked four season or career bests at the Georgia Tech Invitational to end the fall. He had a career best 46.88 in the 100 freestyle, finishing 15th, and he also had a career-best time of 1:57.25 in the 200 butterfly.

SEC RECAP

  • Reached the C Final of the 50 yard freestyle (19.90).
  • Hetland came in seventh in the C Final with a time of 20.16.
  • Helped Vols tie for a bronze with University of Alabama in the 200 yard medley relay, swimming the third leg in the Vols NCAA A-cut time of 1:24.84.

DUAL MEET RECAP

  • Primarily competed for the Vols in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly during the dual meet season
  • Earned two new career bests at UT Invite, 200 free (1:47.42) and 200 IM (2:01.01)
  • Opened the year at home against Louisville, winning the 100 butterfly and placing third in the 50 freestyle
  • Provided a key victory in the 100 butterfly (48.81) in the Georgia meet, helping the Vols to an upset dual meet win. He also took second in the 50 freestyle (20.26)

SEC RECAP

  • Reached the B final in two of his three individual events for the Vols
  • Swam under 20 seconds in the 50 freestyle for the first time in his career during the prelims (19.97). Ended up finishing 16th in the evening finals.
  • Also set a career best of 47.04 in the 100 butterfly finals
  • Competed on the 200 medley relay team, swimming the butterfly leg as the Vols finished second in an NCAA A cut school record time of 1:24.53

  • Won the 100 fly at Louisville with a season-best 48.86
  • Won the 100 fly against Indiana and Kentucky in 49.04
  • Placed second in the 50 free at South Carolina in 21.21
  • Finished third in the 50 free against Florida with a season-best 20.16
  • Took third in the 100 free at South Carolina with a season-best 46.93
  • Had a career best in the Last Chance meet with a time of 45.09 in the 100 Freestyle
  • Had a career best in the SEC Championship with a time of 47.91, finishing in the B-Cut in 9th place
  • Earned his first career All-America honors by helping the 400 medley relay team finish 16th at the NCAA Championships. He joined the Vols' top medley relay team late in the year as the butterfly leg.
  • Swam the 100 fly in 48.33 at NCAAs to finish 38th

SEASON RECAP

  • Placed second in the 50 free against Louisville with a season-best 20.54 and finished second in the 100 butterfly
  • Finished third in the 50 free against Kentucky and Placed third in the 100 free
  • At Ohio State, finished fourth in the 100 butterfly swimming a 49.59
  • At the Tennessee Invitational, placed eighth in the 50 free. In the 100 free, won the B-final with a 45.98
  • Against Virginia, placed second in the 50 free with a time of 20.56. Won his first collegiate race in the 100 butterfly in 48.56 seconds. Win helped Tennessee clinch a victory over the Cavaliers
  • Named the SEC Freshman of the Week (1/11) for his efforts in the Vols' win against Virginia.

PRIOR TO TENNESSEE
  • Set six Norwegian junior records as a part of relays
  • Gold medalist at the Nordic Junior Championships in the 100 freestyle (51.52)
  • Gold medalist at Norwegian national meets in the 100 fly (55.48)
