DUAL MEET RECAP

  • Again proved to be one of the top freestyle sprinters on the Lady Vols' squad and in the entire NCAA, contributing both individually and on freestyle relays
  • Finish top three in four 50 free races during the regular season, including second-place finishes against Louisville and Ohio State
  • Finished second in 100 free in two meets: UNC Wilmington (53.55) and Ohio State (50.88)
  • Never finished below sixth place in the 50 or 100 freestyle the entire regular season

SEC RECAP

  • Finished conference career by earning three more medals -- a silver in the 200 freestyle relay and a pair of bronze in the 50 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay -- to end her two-year UT career with six
  • Placed third in 50 free in a career-best time of 21.97
  • Also finished 10th in 100 free (48.84) and narrowly missed the finals of the 200 freestyle in 25th place (1:48-24 - season best)

NCAA RECAP

  • Ended her career in style by helping the Lady Vols to a program-best third place finish, leading off the Lady Vols' first NCAA relay title, making the podium of an individual event and earning three All-America honors
  • Swam the leadoff leg in the Lady Vols' very first NCAA relay championship, the 200 freestyle relay, to open the national meet. The team finished in a school record 1:27.14.
  • Finished in fourth in 50 free final (22.01) later that day.
  • Swam freestyle in the prelims of the 200 medley relay to help the team qualify for the A final. She did not swim in the finals, a race the Lady Vols also won
  • Ended the meet by leading off a Lady Vols' 400 freestyle relay team to a fourth-place finish at a school record pace (3:12.07). The result boosted UT into third place in the final team rankings. Her cut time was a career best for the 100 (48.50)

SEASON RECAP

  • In her first trip to the NCAA Championships, earned All-America status in all five events she competed in, while setting Big Orange records in 200y free and 400y free relays
  • Swam the anchor legs of the third-place 200y medley relay (1:35.91) and the 200y free relay (1:28.55) that notched sixth
  • In the 200y FR prelims, the quartet touched in at 1:28.37
  • Earned seventh in the 400y free relay with a readout of 1:14.51 and her mark of 22.18 seconds in the 50y free was good for eighth
  • Her prelim time of 22.05 seconds in the "splash-and-dash" event is the ninth best in UT history
  • Also placed 12th in the 100y free with a season-best clocking of 48.62 seconds, ranking her third on the UT performers list
  • Was the anchor leg on the victorious 200y medley that set a Lady Vol and SEC record at the conference championships with a time of 1:35.33
  • Earned bronze medals in the 200y free relay and 400y free relay at SECs
  • Individually, qualified for the 50y free and 100y free championship finals, placing fifth and sixth repetitively, in the events
  • Registered NCAA B-cut times in the 50y free (22.16), 100y free (49.10) and 200y free (1:44.51) at the league meet, with the 200y time being a season best...Was on the winning 200y MR and
  • 400y FR against Florida
  • Also placed third in the 50y free versus UF
  • Notched a pair of wins on relays and added a third-place finish in the 50y free against No. 1 Georgia
  • Won the "splash-and-dash" event in the season opener against UNC-Wilmington
  • Was on winning relays against Kentucky/Indiana, Louisville and South Carolina
  • Won the 50y free against the Cardinals and finished runner-up in the event versus USC.

  • Defended her Mid-American Conference title in the 100-yard freestyle at the league championships, breaking her school record and establishing a pool record
  • Broke her previous record by two-hundredths of a second and earning a B-cut time in the event
  • She also established B cuts in the 50- and 200-yard freestyle finals at the MAC Championships
  • Set three UB school records in the 50, 100 200-yard freestyles and anchored the 200 and 400-yard free relays to school records at the league meet
  • Selected First-Team All-MAC and named to the Mid-Major All-American Team as an honorable mention recipient by CollegeSwimming.com
  • Was selected as the Bull's Most Valuable Performer.

  • Majoring in aerospace engineering
  • Lists winning the 100 free at the MAC Championships in 2010 by .01 seconds as her biggest thrill in sports
  • Has four brothers, Jesse, Jeremy, Jack and James and two sisters, Sasha and Victoria
  • Caroline Iona Simmons, daughter of Curt and Sara Simmons, was born on Jan. 26, 1991, in Arlington, Va.
