2013-14 - JUNIOR
DUAL MEET RECAP
  • Put together a busy fall, swimming eight different events in five meets
  • Won the 200 IM twice during the fall, against South Carolina and a week later at Louisville (1:50.69).
  • Swam the 400 IM just once in the fall semester, but it was a winner. He placed first in 3:56.52.
  • Recorded a career best 1:39.92 in the 200 freestyle against South Carolina

SEC RECAP

  • Earned a bronze medal as part of the 800 Freestyle Relay team of Sam Rairden, Gustav Aberj Ledjstrom and Sean Lehane (6:19.71)
  • Made the A finals of the 200 IM and 400 IM for the first time in his career
  • In the 200 IM, he swam a 1:44.84 time and came in seventh place
  • In the 400 IM, Slater swam the second-best time in UT history in preliminaries and ended the night in eighth place with a time of 3:46.00
  • Slater was the only Vol in the entire 200 Fly event. He finished fourth in the B final (1:45.22)

  • Swam with the Vols in the 800 freestyle relay.

DUAL MEET RECAP

  • Again proved to be the Vols' most consistent swimmer in IM events and the 200 breaststroke. Also found a role in the Vols' 400 free and 800 free relay teams
  • In season opener at UNC Wilmington, placed first in 100 breaststroke (57.94) and first in 200 breaststroke (2:06.86) Swam three season bests against Louisville in the 200 breaststroke (2:02.82), 200 butterfly (1:50.60), and 400 I.M. (3:56.00)
  • Won the 200 IM against Ohio State with a season best time (1:50.04) and took first and second in the 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly respectively
  • At the Tennessee Invitational, he set career bests in the 100 freestyle (46.02), 200 freestyle (1:40.13) and 200 backstroke (1:52.69). He won the 200 freestyle and 400 IM at the event.
  • Won the 200 breaststroke in four meets: UNC Wilmington, Louisville, Ohio State and at Virginia Tech Placed in the top 3 every dual meet in which he swam in 200 or 400 IM

SEC RECAP

  • Scored for the Vols in all three of his individual events
  • Earned his first medal at the SEC Championships, swimming a leg on the silver medal winning 800 freestyle relay team
  • Placed seventh in the 200 IM, swimming a career best 1:44.83 in the morning prelims. It was the first time he swam under 1:45
  • Finished 10th in both the 200 breaststroke (1:57.35 - career best) and the 400 IM (3:45.75 - career best)

NCAA RECAP

  • Competed in his first NCAA meet, earning All-America honors as part of the 800 freestyle relay team
  • Swam the anchor leg on the Vols' 800 freestyle relay, touching the wall as the Vols finished seventh in 6:21.87.
  • Also part of the 400 freestyle relay team that finished 12th
  • Individually, finished 24th in the 400 IM (3:46.92), 34th in the 200 breaststroke (1:58.50) and 35th in the 200 Im (1:45.82)

  • Took second in the 200 free at South Carolina with a season-best 1:41.72. Placed second in the 400 IM at South Carolina in 4:04.05
  • Earned third in the 200 fly against Indiana and Kentucky with a season-best 1:52.17. Finished fourth in the 200 breast against Indiana and Kentucky with a season-best 2:05.23
  • Placed fifth in the 1000 free at Louisville with a season-best 9:47.54
  • Won the 400 IM at the Tennessee Invitational with a season-best 3:55.23. Finished third in the 200 IM with a season-best 1:49.83. Took ninth in the 500 free with a season-best 4:29.58. Placed 14th in the 100 breast with a season-best 57.40
  • Had a career best and made the B-Cut in the 200 Breaststroke during the SEC-Prelim. with the time of 1:59.26
  • Placed 13th and made the B-Cut in the SEC Championship with the time of 1:59.38 in the 200 Backstroke
  • During the SEC-Prelim., made the B-Cut and had a career best time of 1:46.84 in the 200 IM. Placed 8th and made the B-Cut with the time of 1:47.47 in the 200 IM. Placed 6th with a career best time of 3:48.51 in the 400 IM, putting him in the B-Cut

PRIOR TO TENNESSEE
  • Attended Millfield School, where he spent one year as captain
  • Coach was Jol Finck
  • Qualified for the World School Games for England in 2009
  • Competed at the ASA Nationals in 2009 and 2010 and placed 4th in the 400 IM in 2009
  • Broke two Somerset Junior Records in the 200 IM and the 400 IM in 2010
  • Represented Millfield in the National League Final and broke the National Arena League Record in the 100 breaststroke.
