On the final day of the Georgia Diving Invitational, both sophomore Ryan Helms and freshman Jordan Mauney posted career-bests in the platform event.

"I was really impressed today," diving coach Dave Parrington said. "Anytime we get an opportunity to compete on the platform it's good for us. Ryan did well and Jordan showed great improvement. Each time they get up there they will get better."

Helms came in third with a 333.60 mark, one-tenth of a point higher than his previous career-best score. Mauney placed sixth at 287.75. His previous best was 237.85. Both Helms' and Mauney's previous careeer-high scores came at the Tennessee Diving Invitational in November.

Auburn's Kelly Marx won the event (398.75) and Aaron Fleshner of Alabama came in second (338.90).

Tennessee's Sean Letsinger placed 22nd at 190.25.

The Vols return to dual-meet action Jan. 9, when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to take on the Virginia Cavaliers.
