ATHENS, Ga. -- Freshman Maddie Hahn broke the school record in the 200-yard backstroke Sunday to wrap up the Bulldog Last Chance Meet at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
Hahn surpassed junior teammate Kate McNeilis' record time set last year by touching the wall in 1 minute, 54.16 seconds, during the morning preliminary session. It was good for an NCAA B-cut time and is obviously her fastest time of the year in the event.
The day before, Hahn also clocked the third-fastest 100 backstroke time in program history (53.40).
Freshman Amanda Carner also improved her time in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 1:55.88.
The Vols and Lady Vols both competed in fewer races on Sunday than they did the day before. Between the men and women, swimmers clocked five NCAA B-cut times, and Hahn and Carner were the only ones to improve their times for consideration for the national meets later this month.
The Tennessee divers did not compete this weekend and are setting their sights toward the NCAA Zone B Championships, which will be held at UT's Allan Jones Aquatic Center from March 11-13.
