KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Orange team bounced back from last year's defeats to beat the White squad 368-326 in Tennessee's annual Orange and White Intrasquad Meet on Friday at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.

Friday marked the first Orange and White Meet with combined men's and women's scoring. Tennessee head swimming and diving coach Matt Kredich said this gave greater interest and investment in every race and diving event.

"It was kind of a different dynamic," Kredich said. "Each person was focused on each race. I liked the dynamic that came from a combined score because everyone was invested in every race, and that hasn't always been the case. It ended up being very close."

Senior Kelsey Floyd was among the standouts for either team, winning the 1000-yard freestyle, the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly for the White squad in the loss. Another senior, Ed Walsh, won the 100 freestyle and finished second in the 100 breaststroke.

"Kelsey Floyd had a really good meet, and Ed Walsh was phenomenal," Kredich said. "He's taken charge of his swimming the last few weeks and it's neat to see it result in some dividends right now."

Freshmen combined to win seven races. Newcomer Sean Lehane was the only male swimmer to win two races, taking the 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke. On the women's side, freshman Faith Johnson won the 50 and 100 freestyle events.

The White team had won the separate men's and women's competitions last season.

In diving, junior Tori Lamp helped the Orange team bank points by winning the women's 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. Sophomore Mauricio Robles, also representing the Orange team, won the men's 3-meter and senior Brent Sterling gave the White team the victory on the 1 meter.
