Tennessee competed on the platform for the first time this season, putting together solid results in the men's and women's events.

"It was our first platform event of the year and despite some good results in place finishes, we were a little inconsistent, which isn't that unusual in the first platform event of the year," Tennessee diving coach Dave Parrington said.

After missing on her second and third dive, junior Tori Lamp gained ground at the end. She hit her final dive to 88.0 points to win the competition with 298.35 points. Freshman Samantha Lera, competing collegiately on the platform for the first time, was second with a score of 250.60.

"Tori used a brand-new dive this meet, her first dive, which was huge. It went for 72 points," Parrington said. "She's done a grand total of eight of those and it will be a great addition to her list down the road."

Sophomore Mauricio Robles, the reigning SEC champion on the platform, finished second in the men's competition a score of 369.20. Kentucky's Greg Ferrucci won with a score of 383.35.

Senior Jordan Mauney took third in a career best 333.85. Fellow senior Brent Sterling was fourth in 298.70.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The UT swimming and diving team wrapped up the fall season with a victory Saturday, taking first in the men's and women's competitions at the Tennessee Invitational.

Paced byKelsey Floyd's four individual victories, the Lady Vols won the four-team women's event with 1189 points. Kentucky came in second with 847, Colorado State was third with 772.5, and Duke finished fourth with 611.5.

The Vols paced the men's teams with 1264 points, followed by Kentucky (1020), and Duke (693).

"I'm really pleased," Tennessee head coach Matt Kredich said. "We came in with a primary goal of getting a lot of swims in. What that does is it puts each successive swim under more pressure, the pressure of fatigue both mentally and physically. You don't really get the opportunity to do that very often in the trials/finals format. When you add pressure, you see where the breaking points are, where the mistakes are, and there are lots of opportunities to learn."

INSIDE WOMEN'S SWIMMING
Junior Lindsay Gendron highlighted a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 freestyle. She touched the wall first in an NCAA B-cut time of 49.90 seconds, followed by freshman Faith Johnson and junior Caroline Simmons. Freshman Harper Bruens was not far behind in fifth place.

As usual, senior Kelsey Floyd won the 200 butterfly, outpacing Kentucky's Julia Gerotto in 1:59.70. Floyd has won both the 100 and 200 butterfly events four times this season. Floyd won four events at the invitational, including the 200 and 500 freestyle in addition to the butterfly events.

Sophomore Molly Hannis stayed unbeaten in breaststroke events this year. She took first in the 200 breaststroke in an NCAA B-cut time of 2:11.05.

Freshman Anna DeMonte was the Lady Vols' top performer in the 200 backstroke, placing sixth in 2:03.55.

INSIDE MEN'S SWIMMING
Tennessee head coach Matt Kredich said freshman Sean Lehane was fast becoming a legend following his first two days of the Invitational. He only added to that tale Saturday, winning the 200 backstroke by nearly four seconds in a B-cut time of 1:45.85.

Senior Ed Walsh paced a 1-2-3-4 finish in the 100 freestyle. He touched the wall in 44.98, followed by Troy Tillman (45.02), Sam Rairden (45.08) and Jacob Thulin (45.35).

Swimming the mile for the second time this year, junior Sam Peterson clocked a personal best and NCAA B-cut time of 15:21.85 to win the event. Freshman Ben Miller took second in 15:45.63.

In addition to finishing second in the mile, Miller later finished second in the 200 butterfly in 1:51.28.

Former Vol Brad Craig followed up his 100 breaststroke victory Friday by winning the 200 Saturday night. He finished in 1:57.04, and sophomore Tristan Slater was third in 2:04.29.
