Senior diver Jordan Mauney and junior backstroker Lauren Solernou were named to the SEC Swimming and Diving Community Service Teams, the conference office announced.
Both have been active members in Tennessee swimming and diving community service efforts this year that have included service a holiday dinner to the Knoxville-area community and wrapping Christmas gifts. In competition, both have enjoyed solid seasons heading into next week's SEC Championships.
Mauney, a senior from Signal Mountain, Tenn., assisted with the holiday dinner. He was also active in "VOLoween" a Halloween party with games for children. In addition to most of the swimming and diving team, helped with the "Man Run," a 5K organized by the UT Medical Center to raise money for prostate screenings.
Solernou, from Waterbury, Conn., was the women's representative on the community service team. She helped with the holiday dinner, gift wrapping project and the Man Run. She also went to a local nursing home to sing Christmas carols.
