Seven Swimmers Invited to NCAA Women's Meet
March 1, 2017

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Seven Tennessee swimmers qualified individually to compete in the 2017 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, the NCAA announced Wednesday.

Tennessee representatives on the national stage include: seniors Kira Toussaint, Colleen Callahan and Michelle Cefal, junior Micah Bohon, sophomore Madeline Banic and freshmen Meghan Small and Tess Cieplucha. All five of the Vols' relay teams also qualified for the championships, meaning Tennessee will bring additional members to compete.

The NCAA women's championships will be held March 15-18 in Indianapolis at the historic Indiana University Natatorium. The men's meet will be held the following week.

Small, who won Tennessee's second-ever SEC title in the 200-yard individual medley last month, automatically qualified for NCAAs in all three of her events, setting school records in all three at the conference meet. She is the fourth seed in the 200 IM (1:53.31) and the eighth seed in the 400 IM (4:04.93).

Banic captured the SEC 50 freestyle title and enters NCAAs seeded fifth (21.54). She is also seeded 11th in the 100 butterfly.

Toussaint enters her final NCAA championship looking to build on her five All-America honors a year ago. She finished eighth in the 100 backstroke last year; she and Banic were part of Tennessee's NCAA runner-up 200 freestyle relay team.

Tennessee's divers look to join their swimming teammates by qualifying through the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships, which begin Monday at Auburn. Sophomore Rachel Rubadue earned honorable mention All-America honors at NCAAs as a freshman, and fellow sophomore Emily Pelletier was a finalist on platform diving earlier this month.

The NCAA men's field will be announced next week.
