GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Three Tennessee divers are looking to advance to the national springboards this week at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships at Greensboro Aquatic Center.

This unique three-day diving meet runs Monday through Wednesday serves as regional qualifying for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships later this month. There are five zone competitions around the country this week.

In the Zone B meet, there are nine spots available for women and five for men for the national field based on last year's performances at the NCAAs. Competition kicks off at 11 a.m. with the women's 1-meter springboard preliminaries and finals. The men's 3-meter contest will begin in the afternoon.

Redshirt senior Tori Lamp and sophomore Samantha Lera will represent UT on the women's side, and redshirt sophomore Mauricio Robles is set to dive in the men's competition.

"It's extremely intense competition," Tennessee diving coach Dave Parrington said. "After the SECs, we laid low and rested for a few days and since then, we've gotten back into basics. We had a good 10 days or so of preparation, getting their dives going again and get them feeling good."

Lamp is looking to qualify for the NCAA final site for the third consecutive season. She placed second on platform in 2012 and 2013 and reached the top eight on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards last year as well.

At the SEC Championships, Lamp won the platform title for the third consecutive season and made the finals on both springboards.

"With one less spot than we had a year ago, it's going to be really tight," Parrington said. "The women's field is extremely deep. Tori has proved in the past she's able to perform very well at this meet heading into NCAAs."

Lera finished ninth on 1-meter at the SEC meet, just missing the eight-diver final. She nearly qualified for NCAAs as a freshman.

"Samantha didn't have the SECs she anticipated but has been training very well," Parrington said. "The format of this meet sets up pretty for her. She's diving a lot better than she was at this time of year. We've got the 1-meter tomorrow and that's going to give her a pretty good gauge."

After missing a year of competition with injury, Robles is looking to return to the NCAA stage. He qualified for NCAAs as a freshman in 2012. This year, he has set career bests on both springboards, taking silvers in the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions at the SEC Championships.

"Coming off a really good year getting back into collegiate competition and a really good SEC, I expect him to be competitive in an excellent field," Parrington said. "There will be 11 or 12 guys fighting for seven spots. If he dives how he knows how to dive, he'll be right in the mix."
