SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Tennessee junior Liam Stone placed fifth in the 3-meter springboard competition Saturday at the FINA Grand Prix.
Stone, who took 3-meter silver last month at the grand prix event in Canada, scored 411.35 in his second senior international final to end fifth of six divers. It was a truly international field with Stone diving for New Zealand and other divers representing China, Colombia, Great Britain, the United States.
"Once again diving in blustery conditions, Liam was extremely consistent in what was an excellent final and closely contested event going against a field of top international divers," Tennessee diving coach Dave Parrington said. "I'm very pleased with Liam's performance in these past two Grand Prix meets coming away with a silver in Canada and a fifth here, which will boost his world ranking, and be a good stepping stone for the upcoming FINA World Championships in Budapest this July."
