Lindsay Gendron, one of the most successful swimmers in Tennessee history, was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship this week.
Gendron, a native of Bloomington, Ill., earned a record-setting 25 All-America certificates and was part of two NCAA championship relay teams in her four year career at Tennessee. She was also one of the team leaders in the classroom, collecting CSCAA Scholar All-American honors twice and SEC Academic Honor Roll accolades three times.
The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship is a one-time $7,500 award toward postgraduate study at a university or professional school. Gendron is graduating from Tennessee this semester with a degree in marketing.
Tennessee swimmers have earned NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships the last two seasons. Kelsey Floyd, a 24-time All-American, was an award recipient in 2013.
Gendron finished her career with a strong postseason finish. She earned bronze medals at the NCAA Championships in both the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly and placed eighth in the 100 freestyle. She broke the school record in all three of her events and ended the meet with the maximum seven All-America honors.
As a junior, Gendron was part of Tennessee's winning 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams.
