Recent graduate and senior Lindsay Gendron added one more award to her growing list to end her career, earning Capital One Academic All-America honors Thursday.
Gendron was named to the second team to go along with the all-district honors she earned recently. Last month, the marketing major was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
The Tennessee swimming and diving team has had an Academic All-American the last two seasons. Kelsey Floyd earned first-team honors to finish her career in 2013.
A native of Bloomington, Ill., Gendron earned a record-setting 25 All-America certificates and was part of two NCAA championship relay teams in her four year career at Tennessee. She was also one of the team leaders in the classroom, collecting CSCAA Scholar All-American honors twice and SEC Academic Honor Roll accolades three times.
Gendron finished her career with a strong postseason finish in March. The senior earned bronze medals at the NCAA Championships in both the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly and placed eighth in the 100 freestyle. She broke the school record in all three of her events and ended the meet with the maximum seven All-America honors.
As a junior, Gendron was part of Tennessee's winning 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams.
