Redshirt sophomore Mauricio Robles was named the Breakout Diver of the Year this week in the 2013-14 College Swimming Profiles in Excellence publication.
After a season-ending head injury sidelined him last year, Robles bounced back this season as one of the best divers in the SEC and on the national stage.
Robles took the silver medal in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events at the SEC Championships in February. At the NCAA meet in March, he scored on all three boards and finished third on the 3-meter springboard.
He was voted the SEC Diver of the Year at the conclusion of the season. He earned three All-America certificates for his performance at the national meet.
Last year, Tennessee took home four awards in the digital magazine as the female breakout team, the most exciting upset for women and men with their victories over Georgia and the top team championship performance.
The annual publication is edited by Navy's head swimming and diving coach Bill Roberts.
